Founder and Director of digital marketing company ROI.com.au, Ewan Watt was quoted by IT Wire following recent changes to Google’s search algorithm.

The changes, which will have a significant impact on Australian business, sees the search engine giant merge their local listings, known as Google Places, into organic search engine results.

For specific local searches Google now displays a map as part of it’s organic search results, with listed businesses relevant to the search query returned with a map listing.

The latest development typifies the dynamic nature of search engine marketing and demonstrates the need for businesses in Australia and around the globe to constantly adapt to new developments.

In the article, Ewan suggests that businesses competing on a local footing can no longer expect to enjoy traffic from local searches without adapting to the changes and registering a Google Places listing.

The online marketing landscape has changed once again and there is no doubt it will continue to do so. To read the article in full click here.
